"Spring is one of the best times to explore Western Australia's south coast, with colourful wildflowers blooming across the region from late winter through to early summer"
Albany & Surrounds
Your wildflower adventure begins in Albany and the Great Southern, where seasonal blooms can be found everywhere from coastal reserves to mountain ranges.
As you travel from Perth, keep an eye out for rolling green farmland, golden paddocks and vibrant canola fields that brighten the landscape in spring. Near Albany, explore Torndirrup National Park and the scenic Bald Head Walk Trail, where breathtaking views of the Southern Ocean and King George Sound accompany the seasonal wildflowers.
For an even greater display, make your way to Stirling Range National Park. Home to more than 1,500 plant species, this remarkable landscape bursts into colour during wildflower season and is also known for Bluff Knoll and its stunning native orchids.
The Bloom Festival
Each September and October, the Great Southern Treasures region celebrates wildflower season with The Bloom Festival, a vibrant program of events, walks and experiences showcasing the region's incredible natural beauty.

Beautiful coast of Esperance
From Albany, head east along the spectacular south coast to Esperance, one of Western Australia's premier wildflower destinations.
The Esperance Wildflower Trail showcases an incredible variety of native blooms from September to December, winding through national parks, coastal landscapes and diverse bushland habitats.
While you're here, don't miss Cape Le Grand National Park, just 30 minutes from town. Famous for the pristine white sands of Lucky Bay, the park combines stunning wildflowers with dramatic granite peaks, coastal heathlands and breathtaking views across the Recherche Archipelago. Keep an eye out for kangaroos, bandicoots and other native wildlife as you explore this unforgettable corner of Western Australia.
After a day of exploring, unwind back at Pine Grove Holiday Park.
Norseman & the Goldfields
As your journey continues inland towards Norseman, a different wildflower landscape awaits.
Travel along Lake King-Norseman Road to discover Frank Hann National Park, home to more than 61,000 hectares of pristine native heathland. During spring, the park transforms into a colourful display of wildflowers that stretches across the horizon.
For one of the region's best wildflower experiences, follow the Granite and Goldfields Wildflower Drive. From late August to October, this scenic route showcases some of Western Australia's most impressive wildflower country, with a dazzling variety of native blooms lining the landscape.
Tips for Enjoying Wildflower Season
- Look, don't pick. Native wildflowers are protected, so leave them for everyone to enjoy. Penalties may apply for picking wildflowers.
- Stick to marked paths and trails. Help protect these delicate displays by avoiding walking or sitting among the blooms.
- Ask the locals. Visitor centres are a fantastic source of up-to-date information on what's flowering and where to find the best displays during your visit.
